TECHNIQUES AND PROCESSES
Procedure
- Wash, dry and iron the material to be dyed to remove any sizing
- Spread the fabric on a flat surface, table or cemented floor.
- Create your pattern or design on the fabric by drawing with pencil, pen, chalk or charcoal.
- Put the wax in the pan and heat to melt the wax.
- Deep brush in to the melted wax and use to trace the drawn design or pattern. The wax can be stamped and also sprinkled or splashed depending on the design.
- Prepare the dye solution with warm water to prevent the dye from melting away immediately.
- Squeeze the fabric to break the monotony of space and design and deep the fabric into the prepared dye and allow to absorb for about 20-30minutes.
- Removed the cloth from the dye bath and keep t cool and oxidize.
- To remove the wax, prepare hot water and deep the fabric into it.
- Remove from hot water, spread to dry and iron give a clean finishing.
