A. Mastitis

It is a bacterial disease that affects the udder. It occurs mostly in mammals.

Mode of Transmission
  1. Poor nutrition
  2. Multiple teats
  3. Injuries to udder
  4. Poor hygiene
Signs and Symptoms
  1. Inflammation of the udder
  2. Lack of milk flow
  3. Low milk yield
  4. The mammary glands become painful to touch
  5. General distress and fever with swelling
  6. Inactiveness and general weakness
Prevention and Control
  1. Good hygiene
  2. Use of antibiotics

Mode of Transmission
  1. Through contaminated feeds, pasture water, etc.
  2. Through affected animals mostly by mating by infected males
Signs and Symptoms
  1. Spontaneous abortion
  2. High fever
  3. Paralysis of hind quarters
  4. Inflammation of scrotal sac with pains in males
  5. Reduction in the level of animal production
 Prevention and Control
  1. Vaccination
  2. Good hygiene
  3. Isolate affected animals
  4. Use of antibiotics
