A. Trypanosomiasis (Sleeping Sickness)

It affects all the farm animals especially cattle, horses, donkey, etc.

Mode of Transmission
  1. Transmitted by tsetse flies
Signs and Symptoms
  1. Fever
  2. Anaemia
  3. General weakness
  4. Reduced feed intake
  5. Loss of weight
  6. Death
  7. Reduce milk yield
Prevention and Control
  1. Good hygiene
  2. Resistant breeds of animal
  3. Use of antibiotics
  4. Prevent multiplication of flies around farms

B. Coccidiosis

It affects poultry.

Mode of Transmission
  1. Contact with infected birds
  2. Contact with contaminated food
  3. Contact with contaminated water
Signs and Symptoms
  1. Blood stained diarrhea
  2. Ruffled feathers
  3. Loss of appetite
  4. Loss of weight
  5. Reduced productivity  
  6. Death
Prevention and Control
  1. Good hygiene
  2. Use of coccidiostat (drug)
  3. Avoid overcrowding
