Meaning of Data Networks

Data networks are telecommunication networks that are operated for the exchange of information between data communication devices such as computers. Data networks can transfer any type of digital media such as voice, text, or video in the form of data from one device to another. data network is a telecommunications network that allows computers to exchange data.

Types of Data Networks

1. Personal Area Network (PAN)

This is a computer network organized around an individual person. An individual connects his mobile computer, cell phone, or handheld computing devices such as PDA together in the network. This could be inside a small office or residence. This type of network provides great flexibility. For example, it allows you to:

(i) Send a document to the printer in the office upstairs while you are sitting on the couch with your laptop.
