Drug abuse can have severe consequences on the health of individuals. Individual’s health has three basic aspects, which are: physiological well-being, psychological and social well-being of an individual. Consequences of drug abuse on individual include

CONSEQUENCES ON PHYSIOLOGICAL HEALTH

  1. Cancer: Excessive smoking can lead to cancer of the lungs;
  2. Diabetes: Excessive taking of alcohol can cause diabetes.
  3. Death: A person who abuse drug can be killed by the act.
  4. Premature Ageing: It can make you look older than your age
  5. Heart Attack: Excessive intake of alcohol can affect the heart and the blood vessel which leads to heart attack (cardiovascular disease).

CONSEQUENCES ON PSYCHOLOGICAL/MENTAL HEALTH

  1. Mental Illness/Disorder: Substances like Indian hemp, cocaine, alcohol, caffeine, nicotine etc. can cause mental disorder
  2. Hallucination: Intake of hard drugs can lead to wrong perception of objects.
