Biography of the Author
Dele Charley (late) was born in 27th March, 1948. He was a Sierra Leonean writer and playwright in English and Krio Languages. He studied in Frenchtown and at Leads University, London, where he obtained Master’s Degree in Theatre Arts and worked for Ministry of Education in Sierra Leone. Mr. Charley was appointed lecturer in Dramatic Arts at Milton Margai Teacher Training College in Sierra Leone. He has participated in many playwright and theatre arts. This play (The Blood of A Stranger) was staged in Nigeria during FESTAC 1977 (Festival of African Arts and Culture) in Lagos which won award for the best play. He is married with two children.
Background Study of the Book
‘The blood of a stranger is a very simple play, it depicts the life and culture of a Sierra Leone village of Mando and the attempt by a Whiteman to capitalize on their ignorance to exploit the locals of their rich natural deposit through illegal means but in the end justice always wins out against oppression.
