Effects and Consequences of Human Trafficking
The practice of trafficking has several consequences, some of which are discussed below:
(i) Torture, assault and battery, morbidity and death:
The process and act of trafficking usually results in assault, battery, morbidity, torture and even death. Sometimes if the people who are trafficked are deceived into it, they may want to resist all they are asked to go through or even run away. This lead to battery, torture and even death of some people who are trafficked. Any form of resistance put up by those trafficked, usually meet with unimaginable response by the agents and the financiers.
(ii) Exploitation and deprivation:
The process and act of trafficking usually lead to exploitation of those trafficked. In most cases a large proportion of financial benefits derived from the act is taken by the financiers and agents. The person who is actually trafficked is not properly rewarded. Most of the proceeds are collected by the “Ogas” and “Madams”.
