Introduction

Census is done every ten years interval. Before census is conducted the whole nation is divided into enumeration units i.e. smaller countable units, then the actual counting will be done by the enumerators.

How to Conduct Acceptable Census in Nigeria

Below are some of the ways through which a credible and acceptable census can be conducted in Nigeria.

1. Recruitment of enough and capable hands: A good number of staff who are competent enough should be recruited in order to have credible census.
2. Government should make it mandatory for everybody to be counted during census irrespective of their profession or location within the country. If possible government should declare the census period public holidays, government should also involve village heads and chiefs including monarch to have a thorough head count of every citizens.
3. Enough awareness must be created through publicity via the media radio, TV, print media, such as news papers and also involve the use of town criers in the villages so that people can get the correct information about the exercise.
