The Meaning of Law
The society we live in demands cohesion, unity of purpose, oneness and understanding. Development and happiness occurs where these three conditions prevail. Where there is justice, peaceful coexistence and a free atmosphere, there will be happiness and security. The only thing that can make this happen is law and order.
Law is defined as the system of rules that a particular country or community recognizes as regulating the actions of its members and may enforce by the imposition of penalties. Simply put, it is that rule which prescribes our behaviour towards one another for the existence of peace.
Types of Law
There are various types of law. They include:
(i) Community law: This guides and controls the activities and behaviour of the community.
