SECTION A: OBJECTIVE TEST

ALLOCATION OF MARKS: ½ mark each = 30 marks

 

SECTION B: ESSAY

ALLOCATION OF MARKS: 10 marks each = 30 marks

SUB-SECTION 1

1.(a)

Agriculture can be defined as the art and science that deals with the growing of crops and rearing of animals for man’s use.

(2 marks)

1.(b)

Provision of food, provision of shelter, provision of clothing materials, source of income, source of raw material for industries, etc.

(1 mark each = 4 marks)

1.(c)

(i) Mixed farming: This is the combination of crop production with animal on the same farmland.

(ii) Taungya farming: This is the system whereby food crops are grown alongside forest trees.

(2 marks each = 4 marks)

2.(a)

(1 mark each = 4 marks)

2.(b)

(i) Annual crops

These are crops, which complete their life cycle (length of life) within one year or in one growing season examples are maize, rice, sorghum, soya-beans, guinea corn, cowpea, sweet potato, cotton, tomato, yam, etc.
