1. (a) What is national values?
- National Values can be defined as a representation of the paramount value upheld throughout the common cultural experience of the nation.
- It can also be defined as the accepted principles or standards of a group of people.
- A personal measure of worth, such as how important an individual considers certain things; beliefs, principles or ideas people attach to things based on their sense of values.
- Values are standards, rules and criteria that influence and determine how the individual should behave in a society.
(Any correct definition of national values = 2 marks)
1. (b) List three (3) positive values in our society today.
- Consistency
- Trust
- Tolerance
- Fairness
- Integrity
- Commitment
- Honesty
(½ mark for a point = 1½ marks)
