SECTION B: ESSAY

ALLOCATION OF MARKS: 5 marks in total

1. Mention four (4) characteristics of culture.

The following are characteristics of culture:

  • Culture defines a group of people.
  • Culture is dynamic i.e. culture is flexible.
  • Culture is socially learned.
  • Culture is universal.
  • No culture is bad or inferior. This is called cultural relativity.
  • Culture is neither inborn nor a biological feature.
  • Culture is cumulative.

(Any four of the above points at ½ mark each)

TOTAL = 2 MARKS

 

2. State two (2) consequences of large family size.

The following are consequences of large family size:

  • The members may be malnourished, that is, they may not be able to feed well.
  • There is tendency of fighting with one another in a big family.
