Meaning of Puberty and Adolescence

Meaning of Puberty

Puberty is the short span of time which marks the beginning of sexual maturation. The period differs between boys and girls. Boys reach puberty at the age of fourteen years while girls reach it at about twelve years of age.

 

Signs of Puberty

Boys and girls have different signs and body changes during puberty.

Body Changes in Males (Boys)

  1. Boy's voice breaks and becomes deeper.
  2. Hair starts to grow on and around the genital organs, under the armpits and beard around the jaw.
