Meaning of School Health Programme
The school health program is an integral (important) part of community health. It mainly refers to all the health activities and measures that are carried out with the community to promote and protect the health of the students as well as the school personnel, These activities may take place both within and outside the school compound.
The Components of School Health Programme
School health program has been divided into four interrelated areas, namely:
- Healthful school environment.
- Health services.
- School health education.
- School community relationship.
Healthful School Environment
This is the totality of physical, social, mental and emotional aspects of the school and the measure provided to ensure the health and safety of students and staff.
Health Services
Health education means the science of health behaviour, as well as the education process used to bring about positive and mental health.
