The Meaning of Responsible Parenthood
Responsibility is defined as a duty to deal with or take care of somebody or something because of your job, position, etc., so that you may be blamed if something goes wrong.
On the other hand, parenthood is the state of being a parent, a person’s father or mother, biological or foster.
Responsible parenthood refers to the responsibility of parents to guide, protect and provide for the basic needs of their children. It can also be seen as parenting with unconditional love which could last a lifetime. Responsible parenthood therefore, is defined as the bestowed responsibilities of parents (father and (or) mother) to their offspring. The activities and behavioral patterns of the children are dependent on the extent their parents play their expected roles. Parents whether responsible or irresponsible, play their roles in the shaping of the family and the upbringing of their children.
