Signs and Symptoms of Drug Abuse
There are core signs to watch out for in people especially a child involved in drug use. The need to be able to recognize early use of drugs is very important. Early detection, coupled with prompt intervention goes a long way in helping to remedy the problem. Below are some of the symptoms:
- Possession of drugs.
- Possession of drug related paraphernalia like pipe, rolling papers, syringes, lighters, matches, bottle openers, ash-trays etc.
- Withdrawn syndrome and erratic behaviour.
- Tardiness and truancy.
- Downward performance in school work.
- Deviancy.
- Deterioration in health.
- Memory lapses, short attention span, difficulty in concentration.
- Increasing and inappropriate anger, hostility, irritability, secretiveness.
- Unusual use of dark glasses.
