Tools and Equipment for Taking Body Measurements
The tools and equipment for taking body measurements are as follows:
1. A fibre tape measure: This can be easily wrapped around the curved part of the body.
2. Metric stick: Plastic ones last longer.
3. Gauges: This comes in various depth for hems, seam width, turning during clothing construction.
4. Pencil and paper for writing down accurate measurement.
5. A narrow ribbon/string to tie round the waist.

(ii) Let a friend take the measurements for accuracy.
(iii) A narrow ribbon/sring should be tied firmly, not tight, round the waist line to mark the exact position for a perfect fit.
(iv) For comfort and freedom, ease or sewing allowances are added to all with measurement.
