Meaning of Style

Style in literature is the peculiar manner in which an author writes. In the various genres of literature, it is referred to as;

1. Poetic devices in poetry such as figures of speech.

2. Narrative devices in prose such as omniscience technique.

3. Dramatic techniques in drama such as suspense.

 

Definition of Style

Style therefore is the peculiar manner or approach of a writer or an author to his work. It borders on his choice of words, types of technique and manner adopted by a particular author in presentation of his work.
