What are angles of elevation?

If a person stands and looks up at an object, the angle of elevation is the angle between the horizontal line of sight and the object. If a person stands and looks down at an object, the angle of depression is the angle between the horizontal line of sight and the object.

angle of elevation is the angle from an horizontal line facing upward towards an object

Step 1 The two sides we know are Opposite (300) and Adjacent (400).
Step 2 SOHCAHTOA tells us we must use Tangent.
Step 3 Calculate Opposite/Adjacent = 300/400 = 0.75.
Step 4 Find the angle from your calculator using tan-1
