WHY YOU SHOULD NEVER TAKE PART IN THE 10 YEARS CHALLENGE

What’s trending on social media at the moment is the ten years challenge where users upload a photo collage juxtaposing pictures from 10 years ago and a recent picture with the aim of showing how they have transformed over the years.

When something new becomes trendy or goes viral on social media, two groups of people suffice – those who jump at it even without the slightest clue of what it is, and others who sit back and enjoy the fun, without necessarily joining in the craze. A lot of people have already “taken the challenge”, but if you haven’t, here are five reasons why you should never take the 10 years challenge. But before then, let’s take a brief look at how it all started.

Who started the 10 years challenge?

Because of Facebook’s user privacy, it is difficult to do a search to find out who first made a post. However, the earliest traceable attempt at the 10 years challenge, according to Know Your Meme, a website which tracks internet culture, was Damon Lane, a meteorologist in Oklahoma, United States, who took the challenge on Jan. 13. Damon revealed that he took the challenge when he saw a friend of his do same. Efforts have been made to reach Damon’s friend, but at the time of writing, no feedback has been provided.

I don’t know. If you do, let me know through the comment box. 🙂

Facts you probably didn’t know about the 10 years challenge.

We call it the 10 years challenge, but it’s real name is “how hard did ageing hit you challenge”. Lol

The actual challenge is to compare the very first photo you posted on Facebook with your most recent photo. I’m aware some people are cheating the challenge, selecting some fairly presentable pics.

The 10 years challenge trend is similar to the “Puberty Challenge” in 2017, where people compared pictures from before and after their transition to adulthood.

Why you should NEVER take the 10 years challenge

Hmmmmm…I can’t possibly give you any reasons. If you haven’t taken the challenge yet, you are in luck…You may now go ahead to take it, not as an ignorant Facebook user who just has to do it because people are doing it, but as someone who knows its significance and purpose. I hope you were not expecting me to tell you why you should never take the 10 years challenge.
