Virus Warning Signs
The following are some virus warning signs:
- When the software program takes longer to load than it used to.
- When software programs crash for no apparent reason.
- When the computer checks the hard drive often.
- When files disappear for no apparent reason.
- When there is frequent file corruption.
- When items that use to work are no longer working.
- When you received e-mails from an unfamiliar source.
- When you receive an unknown e-mail with attachments.
- When you download frequently from a common source.
Virus Detection and Prevention
Do not pass on virus warning signs without checking with an authoritative source. Ensure you have a current version of antivirus software to check for viruses. To prevent the virus you may do any of the following;
- Purchase and install anti-virus software, and update it frequently.
- Scan every file you receive.
- Do not configure your e-mail program to automatically launch your word processing program when it receives an attachment.
