Agriculture is defined as the art and science of cultivating the land for planting crops and rearing livestock for man and industrial use.

(1 mark awarded for a correct definition of agriculture)

1. (b) Importance of Agriculture

  1. It serves as a source of food.
  2. It serves as a source of feed.
  3. It provides materials for shelter.
  4. Agriculture provides materials for foreign exchange.
  5. Provision of clothing materials.
  6. Provision of income.
  7. Provision of means of transportation.
  8. Development of rural areas, etc.

(Any 3 correct answers at ½ mark each for a total of 1½ marks)
