SECTION A: OBJECTIVE TEST
ALLOCATION OF MARKS: ¼ mark each = 5 marks
SECTION B: ESSAY
ALLOCATION OF MARKS: 5 marks each = 10 marks. 10 ÷ 2 = 5 marks
1. (a) Define drug.
Drugs can be defined as any substance that can affect the body positively or negatively.
(2 marks to be awarded for a correct definition of drug)
NB: Other relevant definitions should be scored.
1. (b) Enumerate three (3) control measures of water pollution.
- There should be awareness of the dangers of pollution which is the most important method of reducing pollution.
- Treating sewage in sewage plant before emptying the effluent into the river and sea.
- Maximum precautions must be taken to prevent oil spillage.
- Building nuclear waste silos for storing radioactive wastes so that groundwater does not become contaminated.
- Treating industrial wastes before emptying them into water bodies.
- Do not allow engine oil, kerosene, or petrol to get into freshwater supply.
