SECTION A: OBJECTIVE TEST
ALLOCATION OF MARKS: ½ mark each = 30 marks
SECTION B: ESSAY
ALLOCATION OF MARKS: 10 marks each = 30 marks
SUB-SECTION 1
1.(a) Pollution is the discharge of waste substances into the environment in quantities that are harmful to living organisms or the environment.
Or
Pollution is the release of pollutants into the environment in quantities that are harmful to living organisms.
(Any one = 2 marks)
1.(b) Three types of pollution are:
- Water pollution
- Air pollution
- Land or soil pollution
- Noise pollution
(Any three at 1 mark for each = 3 marks)
1.(c) Control measures of water pollution:
- Avoid oil spillage.
- Stop indiscriminate dumping of wastes in water bodies.
- Farmers should stop the use of gammalin 20.
- The moderate use of agricultural chemicals e.g. fertilizer, herbicides
- Educate the people on the danger of water pollution
- Prevent the introduction of urine and feaces in rivers, streams, swimming pool, etc.
