MARKING SCHEME FOR JSS1 BASIC SCIENCE THIRD TERM EXAM

SECTION A: OBJECTIVE TEST

ALLOCATION OF MARKS: ¼ mark each = 5 marks

(½ mark each = 30 marks)

 

SECTION B: ESSAY

ALLOCATION OF MARKS: 10 marks each = 30 marks in total

1.(a) Advantages of Observing Personal Cleanliness

  • You look attractive and beautiful.
  • You will be lively and healthy.
  • You will be emotionally balanced.
  • You will be regular and punctual at school and at work.
  • One will be socially acceptable.
  • Germs will not breed on your food or other edible materials.
  • The brain will be on alert.

(Any 4 at 1 mark each = 4 marks)

1.(b) Properties of Metals

  • Metals are hard.
  • Metals can be beaten or hammered into thin sheets i.e. they are malleable.
  • Metals are shiny and can be polished i.e. they have metallic lucre.
  • Metals can be drawn into wires i.e. they are ductile.
