SECTION A: OBJECTIVE TEST

ALLOCATION OF MARKS: ¼ mark each = 5 marks

 

SECTION B: ESSAY

ALLOCATION OF MARKS: 5 marks each = 10 marks. 10 ÷ 2 = 5 marks

1. (a) Define materials.

Materials are consumable items.

(1 correct definition = 1 mark)

1. (b) Define tools.

Tools are solid objects that cannot be consumed.

(1 correct definition = 1 mark)

1. (c) List three (3) materials used for tie and dye.

  • 100% clean cotton fabric
  • String rope or raffia
  • Dyes (pigment & different colours)
  • Chemicals (caustic Soda, hydrosulphite)
  • Salt

(Any three materials at ½ mark each = 1½ marks)

1. (d) List three (3) tools used for tie and dye.

  • Plastic bowl/bucket
  • Stiring stick
  • Rubber hand gloves
  • Spoon
  • Stove

(Any three tools at ½ mark each = 1½ marks)
