MARKING SCHEME FOR JSS1 HOME ECONOMICS FIRST TERM CAT 1
SECTION A: OBJECTIVE TEST
ALLOCATION OF MARKS: ¼ mark each = 5 marks
SECTION B: ESSAY
ALLOCATION OF MARKS: 2½ marks each
1. Identify hygiene practices during menstruation.
Hygiene practices during menstruation include the following:
- Have frequent baths during menstruation at least twice a day.
- Wrap the soiled pad in an old newspaper. Put in a refuse bin or pit toilet or burn it. Do not throw the used pad into the water system or water closet toilet.
- Change the sanitary pad as often as three times a day to prevent bad odour.
- Use good absorbent sanitary pads or towels and pants. These will prevent your clothes from being stained by blood.
- Wash your hands with soap and water after each change of pad.
- Use a little perfumes and deodorants to prevent bad odour, etc.
(Any 5 at ½ mark each = 2½ marks)
TOTAL = 2½ MARKS
