SECTION A: OBJECTIVE TEST
ALLOCATION OF MARKS: ¼ mark each = 5 marks
SECTION B: ESSAY
ALLOCATION OF MARKS: 10 marks each = 30 marks in total
1.(a) Subsistence farming or agriculture is the type of farming that is concerned with the production of food by a farmer to feed himself and his family. OR
Subsistence farming is a system of farming whereby a farmer cultivates crops and rears animals in small quantities to produce food for consumption for himself and his family only. (2 marks)
(b) Commercial farming is defined as the type of farming that is concerned with the production of food and cash crops in large quantities for sale. (2 marks)
(c) Problems of subsistence farming include:
- Inadequate capital for investment leads to small farm holdings.
- Pests and diseases are not controlled due to poverty and illiteracy pest and dieses are not controlled.
- Family labour supplies are unreliable because some members of the family myth migrate to other urban areas.
