THE SEVEN CORE FREEDOMS OF THE UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS (UDHR) 1948
The core of a thing is the most essential aspect of that thing. Thus the core freedoms of the UDHR are those rights and freedoms that are very vital and which all are expected to enjoy.
These seven core freedoms are more or less the foundation upon which the other rights stand. They are vital and authentic freedoms for which men and women in history fought and died before they became expanded and other rights added.
The seven core freedoms of the UDHR are:
- The right to life
This is very vital because life has no duplicate. You cannot replace your life or the life of another person. Therefore, you must handle life with care.
- Freedom of speech
This implies that everyone has the right to express his or her opinion without fear of being intimidated or punished.
- Freedom of assembly
This implies that humans have the right to assemble or gather together with friends or hold meetings in any place of choice.
