Such symbols stand for authority and remind the citizens that they all belong to the same country. Some of our National symbols have historical importance. It is also called the <strong>armorial bearing. </strong>There are certain things drawn on the coat of Arms which are commonly known to be in Nigeria. <u>The black shield </u>represents the good soil of Nigeria. <u>The Eagle</u> represents the strength of Nigeria. <u>The horses</u> represent the dignity and pride of Nigeria. <u>The <strong>Y</strong> shape</u> on the shield represents the Rivers Niger and Benue which flow through the parts of Nigeria. The flowers stands for the beauty of Nigeria as seen from flower called <strong>cactus spectabilis</strong> commonly found in most parts of Nigeria. This is called National Consciousness or Nationalism. The love for one’s country is paramount in the mind of such individual. People in a Nation share the following: (i) Common territory (ii) Economic life (iii) Political system (iv) Constitution <h2><strong>Meaning of National Identity</strong></h2> National identity refers to the characteristics by which a Nation can be recognized. Identity is a situation in which things are the same or alike. In this wise, people from particular cultural group are different from another and can easily be known because of some common characteristics they possess. For instance, the Igbo’s are different from Yoruba’s. The features that distinguish them from the Yoruba’s are language, mode of dressing, greetings, marriage practices, dance patterns, art, values, festivals, customs and tradition. If you know someone who is planning to commit a crime and you do anything to help - plan the crime, loan him or her money or tools, or even just give advice - you can be charged with accessory before the fact. Likewise, if you know someone who has already committed a crime and you do anything to help - such as give him or her a place to hide or help him or her destroy evidence - you can be charged with accessory in the court of law. <h3>4.<strong> Aggravated Assault</strong></h3>
