Meaning of Disease
Disease means illness or disorder of the body or mind. The agents causing diseases are called pathogens. The science and the study of diseases are called pathology.
Diseases’ causative agents are viruses, rickettsiae, bacteria, spirochetes, fungi, protozoa, and worms.
Diseases Vectors
Diseases vectors are animals which transmit disease-causing organisms (pathogens) from an infected person to an uninfected person without being infected. They assist in carrying microorganisms or microbes. They are mainly insects, molluscs and some mammals. Examples of vectors are:
- Mosquito.
- Cockroach.
- Housefly.
- Tsetse fly.
- Dogs and cats.
- Rat.
- Blackflies.

Malaria is an infectious disease caused by a parasite called Plasmodium.
