SECTION A: OBJECTIVE TEST

Allocation of Marks: 1/2 mark each = 30 marks

SECTION B: ESSAY

  1. (a) Six reasons why Agriculture has not been fully mechanized in West Africa are:
  • The problems of the land tenure system.
  • Inadequate farm machinery.
  • High cost of purchasing farm machinery.
  • Different types of soil.
  • Topography of West African land.
  • Inadequate manpower.
  • Scattered farm holding.
  • Poverty level of farm.           (Any 6 @ ½ mark= 3marks)

(b) Four sources of farm power

  • Animal power.

(c) Subsistence Agriculture is practised in rural areas and involves planting crops and rearing livestock to cater for the needs of the farmer and his family.     (1 marks)

  • Land can be defined as the solid part of the earth’s crust which supports the cultivation of crops and the rearing of animals for man’s use.
