Major Local Civic Problems
The major local civic problems include the following:
- Poverty: Most of the developing countries of the world are poor. In many African countries, both children and adults go to bed without food. This is why eradication of poverty and hunger is one of the key objectives of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGS).
- Diseases: Our environment is mosquito-infested, and people, especially children, die of malaria in their millions. Children still die of measles, diarrhoea, jaundice and malnutrition.
- Over population: The population of the developing world is increasing every day without a corresponding increase in resources. People flock the cities in search of jobs that are not available and end up bloating the population.
- Unemployment: As population increases, the number of graduates also increases.
