Meaning of Anti-drug Agencies

Anti-drug agencies are government organizations that are primarily established to tackle drug-related crimes as well as other government organizations which have relevant roles to play in the fight against drug-related crimes. Although fighting drug-related crimes is not the primary reason for establishing agencies like NPF, NIS, NCS, SON and NOA, yet they play major roles in the fight against drug abuse and drug trafficking in Nigeria.

Anti-drug Agencies in Nigeria

The following are anti-drug agencies in Nigeria:

  1. The Nigeria Police Force, NPF
  2. National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA
  3. National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC
  4. Nigeria Customs Service, NCS
  5. Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS
  6. National Orientation Agency, NOA
  7. Standard Organization of Nigeria, SON

The Nigeria Police Force

Formed in 1930, the Nigeria Police Force was established to tackle all kinds of crime within the territory of Nigeria so that everybody living in Nigeria can enjoy safety of life and property.
