The Meaning of Law
The law is a system of rules that a society or government develops in order to deal with crime, business agreements and social relationships. There are three types of laws, namely:
Types of Laws
(i) Divine laws: These are laws made by God. They are the religious laws contained in the holy books such as the Bible or Quran.
(ii) Natural laws: These are laws that exist or occur in nature and are not made or caused by people; for instance, the law of nature says that a child will one day grow and die.
(iii) Human laws: These are laws written down by human beings to make the human society a safe place to live in and to ensure peaceful co-existence in the community.
Kinds of Human Laws
The following are the kinds of human laws:
(i) International charters such as the UN charter and declarations, otherwise called international law.
